The Bishop's Stortford High School and Bishop's Stortford College included in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2021

The Bishop's Stortford High School has been named in the top 100 schools in the UK for cricket for the first time.

It has been included in the 2021 edition of The Cricketer Schools Guide, which features the best-rated 100 senior, 50 prep and junior and, for the first time, 20 all-girl schools.

A record number of schools submitted entries to be included in the guide. They were judged against an extensive set of criteria, with those selected having to show a compelling commitment to cricket in the curriculum, facilities, fixture programmes and coaching.

Matthew Hale, head of cricket at the London Road secondary, said: "We are delighted to be included in this prestigious magazine as it reflects all the effort that we have put into developing cricket at TBSHS.

"This recognition provides additional motivation to continue building cricket at TBSHS and we will strive to provide even more opportunities for our pupils in the future."

Bishop's Stortford College has also made the top 100, for the fourth successive year, while its prep school has claimed a top 50 place for the first time.

Dave Hughes, head of cricket at the Maze Green Road school, said: "To be included [in the guide] in what has been a challenging year is an enormous achievement and one we are immensely proud of.

"We are thrilled that The Cricketer has recognised the outstanding facilities and coaching programme we offer."
