Ryan Charles will be at Bishop's Stortford again next season after agreeing to remain with the ProKit UK Stadium club.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Blues from Canvey Island last summer and made an immediate impact with eight goals in 31 league games as well as another three strikes in nine cup matches.

Owner and joint-manager Steve Smith said: "I'm really pleased Spider is returning. He has sorted his off-pitch stuff out.

"He is in a good place and he will be a big player for us next season."

Smith's fellow joint-boss and star striker Jamie Cureton added on Twitter: "Buzzing that another top player from last season has agreed to stay. Squad is looking good."

Charles' previous clubs include Ipswich Town, Needham Market, Witham Town and Stanway Rovers. His Blues debut was as a substitute against Hitchin Town in a Herts County Charity Cup tie in August, and he netted his first Stortford goal in a 3-1 home victory over Carshalton Athletic in September.

Meanwhile, the Blues have announced they will host Leyton Orient in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 23 (7.45pm).
