Bishop's Stortford picked up their first clean sheet in eight games and extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches in all competitions with a 0-0 draw at Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday night (Dec 7).

It was the Blues' third consecutive draw and saw them move above Lewes into fifth place in the Pitching In Isthmian League, Premier Division.

Defender James Thomas, who signed recently from Bowers & Pitsea, made his Stortford debut alongside younger brother and midfielder Jack Thomas as they became the first siblings to play together for the club since Paul and Robbie Munn in December 1993.

James Thomas was in the thick of the action early on at the BuildKent Stadium as he was required to make a goal-line clearance from Michael Everitt's header.

Blues captain Ryan Henshaw played a diagonal pass to Ben Marlow whose low shot was deflected wide, before Jake Cass hit the post from the resulting corner.

Darren Foxley, who has turned his loan move from Billericay Town into a permanent deal, fired high of the goal from long range while, at the other end, Scott Heard went round goalkeeper Jack Giddens and James Thomas was on hand again to clear off the line.

Heard then had a low shot well saved by Giddens as the hosts exerted some pressure before the break.

The home team had appeals for a penalty turned down after the restart when the ball struck Henshaw's arm and went behind for a corner. From the resulting set-piece, Foxley and Johnville Renee combined to feed Ryan Charles who shot over the bar.

Marlow saw a low shot deflected into the grateful arms of Tim Roberts, before David Smith almost won it late on for the hosts with a curling and dipping effort that had Giddens beaten but went just over the bar.

The Blues travel to Cray Wanderers in the league on Saturday (Dec 11) before visiting Cheshunt in the third round of the Buildbase FA Trophy on December 18.
