Steve Castle wants Bishop’s Stortford to cut out silly mistakes to arrest slide down Southern League Premier Central

Steve Castle wants his Bishop’s Stortford players to cut out the silly mistakes that are costing them dearly as they aim to arrest their slide down the table.

The Blues went down 4-1 at AFC Telford United on Saturday (November 2) as they suffered a sixth straight defeat in all competitions.

They remain fourth from bottom in the Pitching In Southern League, Premier Central going into Saturday’s home game with ninth-placed Banbury United.

“The form of the lads hasn’t been great, but we probably overachieved at the start of the season,” said manager Castle, whose side enjoyed a five-game winning streak between August 31 and September 21.

“We’re levelling out, but the results aren’t great and something needs to be done about that.

“As I’ve said before, these players have been with me since June 27. We gelled quickly initially, but a few bits and pieces are coming out now. We’re looking to address those.

“It’s tough at the moment, but, looking positively, things can change and hopefully we can get back to having a settled team.

“We’ll be resolute, pick ourselves up and hopefully get back to winning ways.”

The boss, who also takes his side to 16th-placed Harborough Town on Tuesday (November 12), is looking to recruit a front man after Kian Harness returned to Royston Town.

Midfielder Jack Taylor has also departed the RDA Stadium, although potentially only temporarily after signing dual registration terms with the club’s former tenants Enfield.
