Bishop's Stortford and Pitching In Isthmian League, Premier Division sides to start 2021-22 season on Saturday August 14
Bishop's Stortford will start the 2021-22 Pitching In Isthmian League, Premier Division season on Saturday August 14 – after a 249-day gap between competitive matches.
The league has announced the second Saturday in August will be the first day of what it hopes will be a complete campaign without any coronavirus disruptions.
The Blues' last competitive action came in a 2-1 defeat at Haringey Borough in the FA Trophy on December 8. Their last league game was way back on October 17 when they defeated Cheshunt 2-0 at the R & D Advisors UK Stadium.
Both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 Isthmian League seasons were abandoned due to the pandemic.
League officials are yet to announce when the fixtures will be released.
Meanwhile, the Government has announced further funding for sport, including £3.1 million in grants for clubs at steps three to six of the National League System.
This will bring the total financial support to those 880 clubs during the pandemic to £13.1 million. Funds are again to be distributed to clubs through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, administered by the Football Foundation.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: "As the turnstiles begin to open over the coming weeks, players, staff and fans across the country can now look forward to a full return to action with confidence."
Clubs will be informed how they can apply for the grants in due course.
