Bishop’s Stortford or Coalville Town drawn away to Macclesfield in FA Trophy quarter-finals

Bishop’s Stortford will travel to Macclesfield in the quarter-finals of the Isuzu FA Trophy if they win their rearranged fifth-round tie at home to Coalville Town tomorrow night (Tuesday February 13).

The Blues would visit their Pitching In Northern Premier League, Premier Division opponents in the last eight on Saturday March 9.

Steve Smith’s side, who are cast adrift at the bottom of Vanarama National League North, were due to host Pitching In Southern League, Premier Central side Coalville on Saturday (February 10) but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Macclesfield are sixth in their league - one level below the Blues - and booked their place in the last eight with a 2-0 success at National League South promotion chasers Hampton & Richmond Borough.

They are a phoenix club of the former Macclesfield Town who were wound up in September 2020 and have enjoyed two successive promotions.

The Silkmen are managed by former Ipswich Town and Hull City defender Alex Bruce, who is the son of Manchester United legend Steve Bruce.

Meanwhile, the Blues have re-signed Zain Walker on loan from Aldershot Town until the end of the season.

The midfielder enjoyed a decent spell at the RDA Stadium earlier this term, making 21 appearances.
