Boys and girls visit Sri Lanka on Felsted School’s first joint overseas cricket tour

Boys and girls headed to Sri Lanka as Felsted School organised the first joint overseas cricket tour in its history.

Players of both sexes from the independent boarding and day school competed in matches in the cities of Colombo and Galle.

The girls took on the Sri Lanka under-19 national team while the boys tested themselves against a number of provincial sides.

The heat and humidity presented added challenges, notably the unfamiliar effects on the pitches as temperatures regularly soared above 30°C, as every match became a test of endurance.

Away from the pitch, the students also got to visit Colombo’s Lotus Tower - the tallest structure in Sri Lanka - released baby turtles into the sea at a sanctuary and spent time at an organisation that supports communities affected by the tsunami of 2004.
