Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-13 Azures girls beat Denham United 2-1

Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-13 Azures girls beat Denham United 2-1 to move up to third in Hertfordshire Girls’ Football Partnership League, Division Seven.

Goalkeeper Charlie Gill’s accurate kicking created early goals for Amelie d’Almeida and Amelie Evans.

The visitors pulled one back, but resolute defending by the likes of Flavia Zonfrilli-Santos, Maisie Bugg and Ruby Welch ensured Azures took the points.

There was also a 2-1 success for under-14 United over Buntingford Cougars in Royston Crow League, Division Two.

Archie Halls and Charlie Lee found the back of the net before their opponents got a late consolation.

Under-15 Wanderers triumphed 4-1 at Parsloe Athletic to remain unbeaten in the Mid-Herts Rural Minors League, Premier Division since early September.

Luca Livermore, Milan Ojimbah, Olly Sturrock and Zach Warner were all on target against their Harlow-based rivals.

Under-17 Blues came from behind to beat MHRML Division One leaders Chase Side under-18s 2-1.

Blues were slow out of the blocks and fell behind after five minutes.

They dominated after that and equalised with 20 minutes remaining when Ed Bennett finished from close range after Sam Shemwell’s drilled free kick evaded the defence.

And they completed the turnaround 10 minutes from time as Shemwell’s shot from distance hit a defender’s hand and Callum Castle coolly converted the penalty.
