Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club hosts successful summer tournament at Friedberg Avenue
More than 1,000 boys and girls descended on Friedberg Avenue for Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club’s summer tournament.
Teams, aged under-eight up to under-13, from across Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire and London competed for silverware over the weekend of June 6-8.
BSCFC sides enjoyed success as there were triumphs for under-8 Azures, under-nine Town, under-12 Sky-Blues and under-12 Town as well as the under-13 BS Futsal team.
The likes of under-10 Cyans, under-11 Blues, under-12 Blues, under-13 Azures and under-13 Yellows were runners-up in their respective events.
Abbey Youth Flamingos also earned special praise for winning the under-nine girls’ cup, adding to their success from last year.
A dedicated group of volunteers spent months organising the tournament and were supported by club volunteers on the three days of competition. The tournament committee put in hours of work over the weekend to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Sponsored by Intercounty, the soundtrack was again provided by Digital Pocahontas - Stortford-based Kelly Rose - and her DJs. The event was also supported by a number of local companies who ran adverts in the programme and displayed banners around the finals’ pitches.
First Aid was provided by local first responder Alan Collins and Ed Kirby Physiotherapy and the club would like to thank all of the referees and volunteers who gave up their time to make the event a success.
