A club spokesperson said: “Congratulations and good luck to the brilliant Mason Rogers who has signed for Cambridge United academy.

“Mason has been with the club for a number of years and has finally got the opportunity to take his football to the next level.

“Thank you to all at the club who have assisted his development, particularly Ed Kirby and Chris Looker who have supported him so well.”

BSCFC and Cambridge United went into partnership in February 2021 to provide Stortford players and coaches with a number of opportunities, including creating a clear pathway for budding BSCFC stars to enter the U’s academy system.

More than 10 players have made the move from BSCFC to the Abbey Stadium outfit, including George Hoddle and Paddy Dunne, who joined before the relationship was made official.

Hoddle, who captained The Bishop’s Stortford High School’s under-14s to national PlayStation FC Schools’ Cup glory in October 2020, signed professional terms with the U’s in July 2023 and has had loan spells at the likes of St Neots Town, Royston Town and St Albans City.

The midfielder, whose dad is Spurs legend and former England manager Glenn Hoddle’s cousin, made his first league appearance for the U’s in a 0-0 draw with Port Vale on the final day of last season.
