Bishop's Stortford Community Football Club under-18 Rovers lifted the Mid-Herts Rural Minors League Cup to complete a superb double.

Having already won the Division Two title in their final season together, they beat Hitchin Town Yellow 1-0 in the final at Potters Bar as the club claimed the silverware for the first time since 2007.

Rovers went into the contest as favourites having beaten a number of supposedly superior teams from higher divisions in previous rounds and they went close through Spencer Earthy and Jack Baros in the first half.

The Stortford team broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the interval when Jack Frings was fouled in the box and man-of-the-match Earthy nonchalantly stuck away the penalty.

Rovers defended brilliantly to preserve their clean sheet while Baros looked set to double the lead late on before he was cynically hacked down on the edge of the area.

Under-15 Wanderers drew 2-2 with Royston Crow League, Division Three leaders Sandy Tigers in their last match of the season.

Lewis Richards netted with a 30-yard free kick and Aidan Blackham also struck while captain Ross Shinnick was man of the match.
