Ross Shinnock's hat-trick guided Bishop's Stortford Community Football Club under-15 Wanderers to a 3-0 win over Buntingford Cougars.

All of the captain's three goals came in the second half of the Royston Crow League, Division Three contest.

The hosts defended brilliantly with the back four being marshalled expertly by Charlie Cappuccini.

James Mutlu scored his second goal in as many games since joining under-14 United as they held Mid-Herts Rural Minors League, Premier Division leaders Wormley Rovers to a 1-1 draw at home.

They moved the ball with real confidence as they dominated much of the first period – Milo Grieves excelled in central midfield and Jude Xavier provided a constant menace as an attacking right-back – and Mutlu gave them a deserved lead.

The table-toppers got back into the game after the interval and levelled matters before spurning two chances to win it from the penalty spot, with one effort clearing the bar and the other being well saved by Ciaran Long.

The under-13 girls played out an entertaining 0-0 draw when they took on St Albans in the Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League.

Stortford, who were hoping to avenge a 3-1 defeat from earlier in the season, kept their opponents at bay in the first period thanks to some excellent tackling from Indigo Lee and a great save by Ella Draper.

After the restart, player-of-the-match Draper kept out a penalty before Lilly Fach saw her goal chalked off for offside.

Stortford then missed a spot-kick of their own as the effort struck the post.
