Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-16 Town beat Ware White 3-1 in Mid-Herts Rural Minors League
Dan Williamson completed a 3-1 victory for Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-16 Town over Ware White as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
They took the lead midway through the Mid-Herts Rural Minors League, Division Two contest when Finley Campbell cut inside to find the bottom corner.
Man-of-the-match Paddy Dunne doubled the advantage by dancing through the defence and finishing neatly, but their opponents reduced the arrears before the break.
Town continued to enjoy lots of possession in the second period and made sure of the points when Williamson nipped in to open his account for the campaign with 10 minutes left.
The under-16 girls produced a much-improved performance when losing 2-0 to Evergreen in Hertfordshire Girls’ Football Partnership League, Division Two.
Composed defending by Aimee Cole and excellent goalkeeping by Freya Hooper ensured it was goalless at the interval.
But Evergreen broke the deadlock with a spectacular long-range strike before doubling their lead on the counter-attack following sustained Stortford pressure.
The under-18 girls almost claimed an incredible point as they lost a memorable HGFPL Division Four encounter with Letchworth 9-7.
Isabelle Berry netted from the edge of the box and Ale Blanco scored with a neat chip as Stortford trailed 5-2 at the break.
Letchworth pulled further clear with three goals, but Stortford showed amazing spirit to notch five times without reply as Anna Baros bagged a brace and Hollie Dietz, Lola Anderson and Ava Rawson also netted.
A point seemed within their reach, but Letchworth scored the game’s 16th goal to seal the points in the final minute.
Under-17 Blues saw off Frontiers 3-1 to take a share of the lead in MHRML Division One.
Sam Shemwell rounded off a slick passing move with a smart finish on the edge of the area, but their opponents equalised against the run of play before half time.
Ed Bennett headed in Charlie Whitrod’s corner at the near post to restore the lead before the latter sealed the victory late on by converting Milo Grieves’ cross at the far stick.
Harry Brodie’s well-taken goal was enough for under-15 Rangers as they beat Frontiers 1-0 to pick up their first three points of the season in MHRML Division Four.
They came under lots of pressure after going in front, but they restricted their opponents to long-range shots which goalkeeper Harry Frans dealt with well.
Josh Baldock, Aidan Hill and Teddy Martin were all on target as under-14 United overcame Thorley Manor 3-2 in Royston Crow League, Division Two.
And goals from Bobby Paxton and Albie Manuel earned under-13 EJA a 2-0 success over Cambridge City in the Eastern Junior Alliance League Cup.
