Bishop's Stortford's under-18 girls were on international duty when they welcomed a touring Sweden squad to Silver Leys.

The contest was arranged by Joss Linney, who not only plays as a winger for the men's first team but also coaches both the Stortford under-18 girls and their Swedish counterparts.

With the newly-formed Bishop's Stortford College team also joining in for some training, there were 25 girls in action.

Linney coached with assistance from Liana Kearns and support from the college before the former refereed four rounds of games. BSRFC Women and Girls' chair Carly Poyser and club chairman Colin Tilley offered their support from the sidelines.

Both teams did well and there were some great runs and defensive efforts from Elke Smit, Grace Frankham and Gracie Lucas, with tries scored by Ruby Wood and Lily Whittaker.

The Stortford players thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are hoping to head to Sweden for a rematch in the near future.

The club is always looking for new girls to join, with teams from under-13 upwards. Email bsrfcladies@gmail.com to find out more.
