Former Bishop's Stortford College student Callum Ilott helped his Iron Lynx Ferrari team come fourth on his debut in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS

Callum Ilott helped his Iron Lynx Ferrari team come fourth when he made his debut in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.

The 22-year-old, who is the Italian manufacturer's Formula 1 test driver, made a big contribution to the #71 car being in contention until near the end of the race at Monza.

In an eventful three-hour race, Ilott was especially busy after taking over from starting driver Davide Rigon.

The former Bishop's Stortford College student switched to slick tyres earlier than most and made rapid progress when the track dried. He handed over to colleague Antonio Fuoco, who chased Ricardo Feller in the #14 Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini until the chequered flag before having to settle for fourth spot.

The #54 Dinamic Motorsport Porsche team took the honours in the opening round while the #88 Mercedes-AMG crew came second.

Tweeting after the race, Ilott said: "P4 on track!! After an all-weather condition race, really, really enjoyed that. Great experiences and lots of positives for the next round."
