Bishop's Stortford Community Football Club under-16 Rovers thrash Cuffley 6-0 in Mid-Herts Rural Minors League Cup

Ethan Wildman opened the scoring and was named man of the match as Bishop's Stortford Community Football Club under-16 Rovers thrashed Cuffley 6-0 in the first round of the Mid-Herts Rural Minors League Cup.

The hosts took an early lead when Will Hall's free kick found the soaring Wildman and he planted his header past the goalkeeper.

After Adam Blair-Park had a shot saved, he helped Rovers double the lead as he built on good work by Jack Baros and Bryn Henriques to cross for Spencer Earthy, who guided the ball home.

Cameron Street and Baros then combined to feed Hall, who drove at the defence and hammered the ball in to make it 3-0 at half time.

The fourth goal came soon after the restart as James Caldwell picked out Sam Byrne and he saw his effort parried by the goalkeeper, only for Baros to stick away the rebound.

Caldwell also had a hand in Rovers' fifth goal, picking out Hall whose initial shot was saved before Byrne pounced to score.

Cuffley responded with a better spell, but Rovers' defensive unit, led by captain Fergus Shinnick alongside Wildman, and goalkeeper Nathan Luckin kept them at bay.

Rovers rounded things off in style when left-back Luke Hale went on a touchline-hugging run before crossing for Blair-Park to nod in at the back post.

Under-14 United registered a decent 3-0 victory over FC Comets Chiefs in Royston Crow League, Division Two.

Austin Pyle, Joseph Haslam and Mickael Jones were all on target against the Hitchin-based side.

And BSCFC City were the champions with five wins out of five at the club's pre-Christmas under-sevens tournament on the 3G pitch at Birchwood High School.
