Bishop's Stortford College student Freddy Cooke scored nine goals to help Old Loughtonians win the Under-18 National Indoor Hockey Finals.

He was the second top scorer on the day behind team-mate Harvey Edwards, with the pair bagging 21 of their side's 23 goals in Wolverhampton.

Cooke, who has played for Old Loughts since he was 13, scored twice as they began the group stage with a defeat to Brooklands before they bounced back to comfortably beat East Grinstead 5-1.

In a must-win game against Winchester, Cooke scored four times in the first half and Edwards hit a second-half hat-trick as their side triumphed 7-2 to advance.

A commanding team performance ensured Old Loughts saw off Repton 4-1 in the last four to set up a final showdown with long-time rivals Surbiton.

And Cooke and Edwards scored a goal apiece in the first period as their team won 2-1 to claim the silverware.
