Bishop’s Stortford College student Bethany Norton comes second at Amir Grand Prix – Lusail Shotgun Competition in Qatar
Bethany Norton won a silver medal and banked $3,000 at the Amir Grand Prix – Lusail Shotgun Competition in Qatar.
The Bishop’s Stortford College student, who is in Year 13, came second in the junior ladies’ olympic skeet event.
Norton scored 110 out of 125 on the opening two days in Doha to advance to the final in second place.
She amassed 48 out of 60 in the final to secure runners-up spot as she went one better than last year.
Norton is ranked 23rd in Europe and 42nd in the world for olympic skeet shooting and is the youngest athlete within the top 60 of both the European and world rankings.
She plans to take time off from training and competing to focus on her A levels at the Maze Green Road school before spending the summer in Europe competing in the Italian Grand Prix and European Championships.
