Bishop’s Stortford beat West London Eagles II 27-22 in England Handball’s Regional League South 2 East




Catalin Gauca led the way with eight goals as Bishop’s Stortford beat West London Eagles II 27-22 to take another step towards promotion.

The hosts, who fought back having trailed by four goals after only 10 minutes, are top of England Handball’s Regional League South 2 East with four wins out of four.

There were four goals apiece for Youssef El Mhajri and Tsvetomir Ivanov while both Alex Lyons and Ali Mountassir claimed trebles.

David Diogo Robalo and Ik Ehigie-Obano added braces and there was one goal for Remus Muntean.

Stortford recovered to lead 14-9 at half time before the visitors reduced the deficit to one goal with 15 minutes remaining.

A well-called time out helped the hosts, however, as they disrupted their opponents’ attack and were able to pull away.
