Former Felsted School student Poppy Tydeman makes Wales debut in Celtic Cup netball triumph

Poppy Tydeman enjoyed a dream debut as she helped Wales win the inaugural Celtic Cup.

The former Felsted School student, from Great Dunmow, came off the bench during her country’s impressive 59-47 win over hosts Scotland in the final.

Tydeman, 22, became the 229th player to represent the Welsh Feathers as they went unbeaten in the four-day competition at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.

“I am honoured to train and play alongside such a talented group of players whom I’ve looked up to since I was younger,” said Tydeman.

“I am incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to represent Wales and to officially become Welsh Feather number 229.

“I am excited to be part of such a strong squad as the team look to climb the world rankings.”

Wales also won all three of their group matches against Scotland, Northern Ireland and Zimbabwe.
