FA Cup second qualifying round draw: Bishop's Stortford to play Bowers & Pitsea at home

Bishop's Stortford have been drawn at home to Bowers & Pitsea – one of only two teams below them in the Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division – in the second qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The tie will be played at the R&D Advisors UK Stadium on Saturday September 18 – just 19 days after the two met there in a league fixture which finished 2-2 and left both sides still without a win after four games.

On that occasion Frankie Merrifield gave the Blues an early lead before the bottom-placed visitors went 2-1 up. Strike partner Jake Cass equalised midway through the second half to earn the hosts a point in a match they dominated for long periods.

Cass scored a hat trick in the Blues' 3-0 home win over Lowestoft Town in Saturday's first qualifying round.

Bowers & Pitsea won 5-0 at Arlesey Town of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division. Striker Lewis Manor, who scored both goals for Bowers in the draw at Stortford, also scored a hat trick.

Meanwhile, Stortford's Essex Senior League tenants Enfield, managed by prolific former Blues striker Jamie Cureton, will travel to Enfield Town, second in the Isthmian League Premier, if they can overcome Hadley of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier following their 1-1 draw at the weekend.
