Bishop's Stortford are set to give their 20-year-old toilet block a makeover after being awarded £10,000 of building materials.

The Blues will spruce up the facilities at the R&D Advisors UK Stadium having impressed the judges in the Buildbase Non-League Club Renovation Programme.

Stortford are one of 10 winning clubs – all have competed in this season's FA Trophy or Vase – to benefit from the builders' merchant's £100,000 bursary, with their supplies, as well as information and advice, being provided by the Harlow branch.

The toilet block's walls are painted brickwork and require plastering, the lighting is poor and the sanitary ware looks tired.

The work will be undertaken with the help of the club's volunteers and specialist skills from a sponsor.

"During the pandemic the ground was used as the main vaccination centre for the region and, although we had a clean vaccination suite, our welfare facilities were not the best advert for the club," said Blues director and general manager Shan Toms.

"Like the majority of clubs we have experienced two tough years, so this bursary will enable us to carry out well overdue works. Thank you, Buildbase."
