Bishop’s Stortford Taekwon-do member Nick Mamouzellos wins gold medal at British Championships in Worcester
Bishop’s Stortford Taekwon-do member Nick Mamouzellos claimed a gold medal at the British Championships.
The 35-year-old martial artist won five rounds - including a 10-0 success - to take the heavyweight sparring title at the University of Worcester Arena.
He also went close to earning a medal in patterns, but was narrowly beaten into fourth place after a play-off.
Cian Casey Bond, 10, achieved a bronze medal in boys’ red belt lightweight sparring and his mum Robyn Bond also struck bronze in ladies’ blue/red belt team sparring.
Also in action for the club were Saoirse Casey Bond, Isaac Horwood and Suliman Khan while Jo Anderson and Julie Taylor helped with officials’ duties.
Bishop’s Stortford Taekwon-do, which has been based at Parsonage Community Hall for the last 19 years, runs classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Free trial sessions are being offered until the end of the year. See www.bstkd.uk to find out more.
