Takeley beat Farnham by 10 wickets in Boardmans Davies Cup T20 cricket final
Trevor Gunn and Vamsi Madhav stole the show as Takeley stormed to a 10-wicket triumph over Farnham in the 57th Boardmans Davies Cup T20 final.
Gunn, who is the only Takeley player to have played in his side's two tournament successes - their other came back in 2005 - took 4 for 8 with the ball before Madhav produced a man-of-the-match 63 not out with the bat.
Farnham won the toss and elected to bat at Bishop's Stortford's Cricketfield Lane, but they struggled from the outset thanks to tight and accurate bowling from Gunn and Coby Miles.
Tommy Cattell (33 not out) and Ollie Radley (28) put up some resistance as they recovered from 30 for 5, but could only post 104 for 8.
Gunn's excellent figures were added to by Tom Brown (3 for 22) and Miles (1 for 28), with the bowlers backed up by an excellent fielding performance.
Takeley openers Madhav and Brown (33 not out) got off to a steady start in reply as they exploited gaps in the large outfield, although they did give early half-chances.
The pair then accelerated well and Madhav in particular played some aggressive shots, including hitting three sixes, as they cruised to 108 without loss in 15.2 overs.
Takeley, who were presented with the cup by Richard Lawrie of Boardmans Solutions, would like to thank their opponents for playing the game in an excellent spirit as well as competition organisers Squin Clarke and David Brown.
The £302 raised by this year's tournament will be donated to Grove Cottage.
