Chris Harris, Frankie Merrifield and Darren Foxley all scored as Bishop's Stortford triumphed 3-1 at home to Bognor Regis Town in the Pitching In Isthmian League, Premier Division last night (January 25).

The Blues and the rest of the top seven - apart from Folkestone Invicta, who lost 3-1 at leaders Worthing - were all victorious so Steve Smith's men remain in fourth, but there is now a four-point gap between them and sixth-placed Folkestone.

Stortford, for whom captain Ryan Henshaw made his 100th appearance, took the lead on the stroke of half time when Harris slotted home from Johnville Renee's cross as he made it five goals in his last six games.

The Blues doubled their advantage eight minutes into the second period through Merrifield, who stabbed in Harris' cross from close range.

Henshaw was denied by the woodwork and Mark Haines had an effort cleared off the line before Jordy Mongoy pulled a goal back for the visitors - who had only lost once away from home in the league - with a fine 63rd-minute strike.

Skipper Henshaw was again thwarted by the frame of the goal before Foxley made sure of the points with a long-range effort four minutes from time.

Smith's men, who have won three consecutive home games, are back in action on Saturday (January 29) when they visit bottom side Leatherhead.
