The Tees Herts & Essex Border League is urgently looking to recruit umpires for the 2022 season.

Officials decided at the recent AGM to use neutral umpires in Premier Division fixtures from next summer in order to bring it in line with senior leagues across Hertfordshire and Essex.

"Having neutral umpires in our top division will give our league credibility," said chairman David Brown, who was re-elected along with the rest of the management committee. "Clubs will fund it, but getting the umpires is going to be the difficulty."

The league hopes to arrange an umpires course for early in the new year. Email david1.r.brown@gmail.com to register your interest.

The Premier Division will also trial splitting the campaign into 45-over and flexible overs contests.

Meanwhile, Takeley's first team and High Roding III have joined the league, which has reaffirmed its commitment to stamping out discrimination and making the game more inclusive and diverse. Clubs raised over £40,000 for local charities and the NHS this year.
