Herts and Essex High School students Gracie Smith and Ella Bloomfield-Bowmaker help Turnford under-16s win England Netball National Club Championships in Sunderland




Herts and Essex High School students Gracie Smith and Ella Bloomfield-Bowmaker helped their club side claim a national trophy.

They featured for Turnford under-16s as they went unbeaten to triumph at the two-day England Netball National Club Championships in Sunderland.

Smith and Bloomfield-Bowmaker, who are in Year 10 and 11 respectively at the Warwick Road secondary, played their part as the team topped their opening group thanks to victories over Kent County and Chevrons before wins against Grangetown and Ryland saw them finish first in the next pool stage.

Kingsway Power and Eagles were seen off as Turnford also came top in their third group of the competition.

And they claimed the title by registering a 33-27 success over Oldham in the final.
