Herts and Essex High School student Gracie Smith helps England win Europe Netball Under-17 Championship in Gibraltar




Gracie Smith won her first England under-17 caps as she helped the team triumph at the Europe Netball Under-17 Championship.

The Herts and Essex High School student featured in all four matches as her side successfully defended the trophy in Gibraltar.

Smith, who is in Year 10 at the Warwick Road secondary, was part of a 12-strong squad for the tournament, which got under way on International Women’s Day.

England began by beating the Republic of Ireland 81-14 before registering a 74-30 success over the United Arab Emirates.

They ran out 79-34 winners against Wales before completing a clean sweep by seeing off Scotland 60-34.

Smith, who plays centre and wing defence, is also part of the Saracens Mavericks setup.
