Bishop’s Stortford golfer Max Hopkins ties for 34th place at Dutch Amateur Championship




Max Hopkins tied for 34th place at the Dutch Amateur Championship.

The Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club member finished three over par at the end of four stroke play rounds at Eindhovensche Golf in the Netherlands.

Hopkins, who went into the tournament having finished as runner-up at the English Amateur Championship the previous week, began with a four-over-par round of 76.

The 22-year-old, who works shifts behind the bar at The Star in Bridge Street, followed it up with a one-under-par 71 before shooting a three-over 75.

The former Hockerill Anglo-European College and Leventhorpe School student completed the event with a three-under-par 69 to end three over.

Belgium’s Anthony De Schutter topped the leaderboard on -17, one shot clear of Germany’s Martin Grundemann.
