Callum Ilott claims first F2 podium in Barcelona, Spain




Callum Ilott was delighted to claim his maiden Formula 2 podium spot and first points in Spain.

He was eighth in the first race and third in the second as he secured a 14-point haul at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to move up to 11th in the championship standings.

Ilott, who had been empty handed after the opening two rounds in Bahrain and Azerbaijan, scored all of Sauber Junior Team by Charouz's points over the weekend.

"After two difficult opening race weekends, it feels great to finally get some points in the bag and pick up my maiden F2 podium," said the former Bishop's Stortford College student.

"I'm really happy with the direction we're heading in so we'll be looking to carry the momentum to Monaco [May 23-25]."
