Formula 2 driver Callum Ilott taking part in F1 Esports series aiming to raise $100,000 for the World Health Organisation during coronavirus crisis




Callum Ilott is taking part in a new Esports series which is aiming to raise $100,000 for the World Health Organisation.

The former Bishop's Stortford College student is currently out of action as the Formula 2 racing series has been suspended due to the coronavirus crisis.

But the UNI-Virtuosi driver is using his skills in the virtual world as part of a 19-strong group of competitors bidding to reach the six-figure sum for the WHO's Covid-19 Solidarity Relief Fund.

"The idea came as a way to utilise the current Esports platform to raise money to fight the global pandemic as well as entertain fans across the world," said Ilott.

"We've set a goal of $100,000 and hope to raise as much money as possible for the WHO fund with the help of everyone across the globe."

There will be three double-header events in the series, which will use computer game F1 2019.
