Bishop's Stortford Judokwai member Sam Eaton gets gold at English Cadet Open in Thetford
Sam Eaton struck gold for Bishop's Stortford Judokwai at the English Cadet Open in Thetford.
It was a very tough GB ranking event with top fighters from all over the country taking part.
And Eaton produced a fine performance to claim top spot in the under-55kg category while clubmate Iosin Huseinov also excelled to bag a silver medal in the under-60kg section.
Eaton also travelled to Fuengirola in Spain to compete in his first European Cadet Cup. He won his opening three matches and then lost the next two as he finished in a creditable ninth place.
Many of the Judokwai youngsters, who train at the Herts & Essex Sports Centre in Beldams Lane, headed to north-west London for the Mobery Stars Red & Yellow Belt Rumble.
In the under-12 reds, Hannah Nunn collected a silver medal while Sadie France claimed bronze.
There were gold medals for Chloe Allen and Zico Manchee in the under-12 yellows along with bronze ones for Luca Caignan, Rudy Green, Elias Agathangelou and Thomas White.
Judokwai also hosted the Bishop's Stortford Under-8 Judo Festival as members of many clubs came together to experience a competitive event.
Taking part in Stortford colours were Benjamin Lines, Mason Mayville-Hatleigh, Kieran Deadman, Joshua Allen, Spencer Woodhouse and Isla Mitchell alongside Dylan Grover, Connor Managhan, Jake Barr and Thomas Heald.
