Nick Mamouzellos and Nancy Clemence win medals at Taekwon-do Association of Great Britain’s English Championships
Nick Mamouzellos and Nancy Clemence both won medals at the Taekwon-do Association of Great Britain’s English Championships.
The Bishop’s Stortford Taekwon-do members won gold and bronze respectively when more than 1,000 martial artists descended on Worcester.
Mamouzellos, 35, triumphed in men’s yellow belt heavyweight sparring as he struck gold for the third competition in a row. He is now the current TAGB English, British and Midlands champion having only been training for eight months.
Nine-year-old Clemence took part in her first competition in the girls’ blue belt pee wee sparring and patterns, with her bronze medal being secured in team sparring.
Also in action for Stortford were 15-year-old Isaac Horwood in boys’ heavyweight blue belt sparring and patterns and Suliman Khan in men’s black belt welterweight second/third dan patterns and sparring.
“Sending a small team and coming home with an English champion plus a bronze for Nancy was a great achievement and good experience for future events,” said instructor Colin Mowatt, fifth dan. “Medal or not, all four students did the club proud.”
The club has been holding training sessions at Parsonage Community Hall on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays for the last 19 years and caters for students aged six and above. Unlimited free trial classes are being offered in April. Visit www.bstkd.uk to find out more.
