Former Chelsea youngster Cole Dasilva and ex-Cambridge United youth Ronan Ismaili feature for Bishop’s Stortford in pre-season
Steve Castle believes everyone at Bishop’s Stortford can learn some lessons from Saturday’s 3-0 friendly defeat at lower-level Maldon & Tiptree.
A hat-trick from Francis Mampolo secured the win for the hosts from the Pitching In Isthmian League, North Division.
“Lads are coming in and finding out about everything around the football club and what’s expected,” said Blues manager Castle. “It’s a challenge and a learning process.
“Supporters, board, myself and the players have got to be patient. We’re getting near enough a whole new team together.
“I’ve learned a few bits and pieces about the lads and hopefully the lads have learned bits and pieces about what’s expected.
“We’ve got new players and trialists, so it will be a lot easier when everything settles down and it’s a bit calmer.”
Former Luton Town and Chelsea youngster Cole Dasilva featured for Stortford at the weekend. The full-back, who can also operate in midfield, was most recently at Bedford Town.
Also involved was Ronan Ismaili. The forward, who can play as a No 10 or out wide, was recently released by Cambridge United.
Popular attacker Ryan Charles has committed for this season and scored in last Tuesday’s (July 23) 3-1 home defeat to Vanarama National League South side Welling United. He is suspended for the first two league games, however.
The Blues are due to host Arsenal under-21s tomorrow (Wednesday July 31) before visiting National League South outfit Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday (August 3).
Meanwhile, goalkeeping coach Dannie Tippett has left to join Leyton Orient.
