Thorley Manor under-12s return to action with victory over Stotfold
Thorley Manor under-12s got back into the swing of things with victory at Stotfold.
Having not played for a few weeks, they started the match well and took a fifth-minute lead when Aaron netted with his first touch from Olly's quick throw.
The away side netted again before half time, although you could see both sides were rusty due to some poor passing and scuffed shots.
Thorley Manor began the second half brightly and stretched their lead with a penalty before comfortably seeing the game out.
Coaches and parents were massively proud of the under-11s' performance in their cup defeat to FC Comets, who play two divisions higher.
They kept going after falling behind and equalised midway through the second half with Isaac's tidy finish.
Kieran made some great saves to keep the score level and take the tie to extra time, when the team began to tire through a lack of substitutes. Despite losing, the boys could be delighted with their performance.
Under-10 Blacks had to settle for a draw when they took on Melbourn Tigers, although on another day their display would have resulted in a big win.
Benji and Harry, who was back from injury, bagged braces and Seb also scored. Toby was man of the match while goalkeeper Callum was unlucky to see an opponent tuck away the rebound after he had made a brilliant penalty save.
The under-sevens registered a comfortable victory and a narrow defeat when they played two games against Buntingford Cougars. The goals in both matches were netted by Louis, Henry, Aiden and Kieran.
