Stansted still in Essex Senior League, Premier Division title contention after win over Woodford Town

Stansted remain two points behind Essex Senior League, Premier Division leaders Hullbridge Sports with two games remaining after both sides won at the weekend.

The Airportmen came from behind to beat Woodford Town 2-1 as Sam West and Rob Norris scored, while the table-toppers were 2-0 winners at West Essex.

Stansted are also into the Errington Challenge Cup final after triumphing 5-0 against Saffron Walden Town last Tuesday.

Callum Ibe’s brace was added to by Paul Clayton, James Peagram and Ollie Bell, with West Essex now standing between them and the silverware.

Bryn Thorpe fired a four-goal salvo to steer Takeley to a thumping 8-1 home victory over Barkingside.

Ryan Lynch added a brace and there was also a goal apiece for Andre Humphries and Dan Hawkes.

Sawbridgeworth Town slipped to a 3-0 home loss against Tower Hamlets. Ijahl Currie-Wilson scored twice in the opening 12 minutes and Georgio Exakodis added another late on.

In the ProKit UK Essex Olympian League, Premier Division, Buckhurst Hill were crowned champions after beating Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 7-0.

Dunmow Rhodes upset the odds to beat Tiptree Elite 4-2 and lift the Braintree & North Essex Sunday League Division One Cup.

Kennie Irving, who netted twice, man of the match Emilio Caceres-Sola and Charlie Gooch scored for Dunmow, who had lost twice to the league leaders earlier in the campaign.
