Saffron Hawks produced their best performance in a national competition as the under-12s reached the semi-finals of the ENG National Netball Tournament.

They lost to eventual champions Poole as they ranked fourth in the country.

The team began the group stage with a fantastic 6-5 win against defending champions Tameside and went on to register more comfortable victories over Teignbridge Titans (8-5) and Sutton United (7-1).

They suffered a tough 6-3 defeat at the hands of a skilful Ellesmere Port side, but their number of goals scored meant they came second in the group.

Quarter-final opponents Royals had beaten some good sides in their group, but Hawks raised their game to triumph 8-5.

And they could be incredibly proud of their overall performance despite missing out on a place in the final by losing to Poole.

The team will be playing regional netball in just over a year's time and are already looking for talented Year 6 (under-11) players who might want to play in their wider squad. Email ttandi@saffronhawks.co.uk to find out more.
