Bishop’s Stortford under-19 girls beat St Lawrence & Highland Court to reach ECB Club T20 national finals day

Sarah Pearson wiped out the opponents’ middle order as Bishop’s Stortford under-19 girls reached the ECB Club T20 national finals.

She took fabulous figures of 4-4 from four overs to help the hosts secure a convincing nine-wicket win against St Lawrence & Highland Court to be crowned east region champions.

They are now looking forward to finals day, where they will compete with the three other regional winners to vie for the title of national champions.

St Lawrence & Highland Court, from Kent, won the toss at Cricketfield Lane and made a steady start as they reached 77-2 off 12 overs.

But Pearson then tore into them as they ultimately closed on 95-7 from their 20 overs. Mabel Reid, Mindy Sondh and Lotty Hobson got the other wickets.

In reply, Stortford were always ahead of the required run rate and eased to 97-1 in the 15th over as Bella Howarth carried her bat for 43 and Jess Olorenshaw also remained unbeaten on 33.
