Tees Herts & Essex Border League: Farnham beat Matching Green to win T20 Cup
Farnham saw off Matching Green by five wickets to lift the Tees Herts & Essex Border League T20 Cup at Hockerill Cricket Club.
A half-century from opener N Prowse (58) was added to by R Brevitt-Smith, who was undefeated on 42, as they reached 170-5 in the penultimate over.
Matching Green had earlier posted 168-6. R Akram top-scored with 68 and was assisted by S Hartnell (36), but they could muster only 13 runs in their final three overs.
K Henchie (3-18) was the pick of the bowlers for Farnham, who went on to lift the Boardmans Davies Cup a few days later.
The HEBL Shield final took place on the same evening at Hockerill, with Lion Hawks crowned champions thanks to a 51-run success over Matching Green II.
L Walcott struck 109 to guide Lion Hawks to a daunting 237-6. S Akbar (69) could not prevent Matching Green being removed for 186, despite being up with the run rate after 10 overs.
HEBL chairman David Brown thanked the large crowd for their support, Hockerill for being welcoming hosts and Tees' group managing director Ashton Hunt, who presented the trophies to the winning captains.
