LEARN MOREJake Foster was man of the match when Real Stortford under-16 Bulls lost 1-0 to Whitewebbs Eagles in the Mid-Herts Rural Minors League Division Three Cup final.
Hayden Say hit the post early on for Bulls before their opponents took the lead midway through the first half.
Bulls were much better after the break as Ashley Elgar caused problems while, with no decisions going their way, the defence of Tom Brierly, Foster, Cameron Scott, Harry Pettipher, Morgan Kanio and goalkeeper Gavin Gardner looked secure.
And they felt they were denied a clear penalty near the end when Elgar got through and was pulled back by an opponent.
Club captain Darragh Flood battled his way back from a four-month injury lay-off to be fit for the final, but league rules prevented the whole squad from playing so he assisted the coaching team on the sidelines instead.
There was also disappointment at the hands of Whitewebbs Eagles for under-18 Saracens as they lost the MHRML Division Five Cup final 4-1. Adam Price scored a consolation.
