Bishop's Stortford have issued a rallying cry to the town to get behind the team when they entertain Leeds Tykes in a crucial National League 1 showdown on Saturday (Jan 15, 3pm).

The club placed an advertisement in this week's Bishop's Stortford Independent headed 'Your 1st XV needs your support!' – and as an incentive to lure non-members to Silver Leys, people can pay £10 for admission instead of the usual £15 on presentation of the ad.

There will also be a 'happy hour' from 12pm to 3pm, when pre-match pints of Guinness, Greene King IPA, Carlsberg and the BSRFC Centenary Ale will be available for £3.

Stortford began 2022 with a 31-17 away defeat to Plymouth Albion at the weekend – their 10th loss in 15 games this season – and slipped two places to 13th out of 15 in the table as the Devon side leapfrogged them into 12th.

The West Yorkshire visitors to Silver Leys are one place and two points below them, but have a couple of games in hand as both sides look to climb away from the drop zone.

Stortford, with 26 points from 15 games, are only two points behind Plymouth (12th, 28) and Birmingham Moseley (11th, 28) and three adrift of Darlington Mowden Park (10th, 29), but all three of these sides have a game in hand on the Silver Leys club. Tonbridge Juddians are bottom (15th, 19).
