Paul Round struck twice as a 3-1 win at Bedford II confirmed Bishop’s Stortford as East Men’s League, Division 2S champions.

Both sides were already promoted going into the final game of the campaign and Stortford had all but won the title thanks to their goal difference being superior by 18.

And the visitors, who also netted through Jon Taylor, claimed the victory to win the league by six points and spoil the hosts’ President’s Day.

But they were left stranded on 99 goals for the season as they just missed out on the century.

Collin Sharp kept Stortford’s clean sheet intact with a string of excellent first-half saves.

Taylor gave the visitors the lead after good work from Henry Marsden before Round doubled it with a first-time effort. Adam Farley set up Round’s second before Bedford got a consolation.
