Thorley Manor FC: Bennett's super saves for under-11 White against Ashwell Academicals
Sam Bennett made some super saves as Thorley Manor under-11 White played out a close encounter with Ashwell Academicals.
The goalkeeper helped to keep the game level as his team-mates performed confidently and created some wonderful opportunities with good passing and forward movement.
Aaron Stevens was among the scorers when the under-14s lost a competitive fixture against Boca Jogobonito Pumas 3-2.
Zack Joslin, who deputised for regular goalkeeper Harry James, played well and there was plenty of solid defending, as well as creativity, from his colleagues.
Under-12 Black acquitted themselves well and controlled much of the play against Royston Town Eagles.
On a hard pitch with a big slope, they produced some good interplay that would have led to more goals on another day while goalkeeper Will and his defence were solid throughout.
Both shot-stoppers excelled when the under-10s took on derby rivals BSCFC Town. Players from each side enjoyed time on the ball to carve out chances, but the boys between the sticks were the stars in what proved to be a low-scoring contest.
The under-nines really improved as they put up a great fight against a speedy Ashwell Academicals side in a dramatic game which saw goal-line clearances and the woodwork being struck at both ends.
And under-eight White and under-eight Black showed off their passing and tackling skills as they stuck to their game plans against Shefford Saints and FC Comets respectively.
