Stansted Hall & Elsenham captain Jacob Talbot on his team's Tees Herts & Essex Border League title success
Jacob Talbot hailed an excellent team effort following Stansted Hall & Elsenham's title-winning campaign in the Tees Herts & Essex Border League, Premier Division.
His team are the first official champions of the division following the disruptive nature of the 2020 season due to the pandemic.
The Hall were confirmed as league winners the previous week and completed the season with only a second defeat as Farnham beat them in a high-scoring contest.
James Brown made 103 as the champions amassed 311, but Nick Prowse struck an unbeaten 141 to guide Farnham to 314-3 with just three balls to spare.
Captain Talbot said: "Although Rory McGurk, who scored 679 runs, and Grant Ward, who took 30 wickets, were our best performers, it was an all-round team performance throughout the whole season that enabled the Hall to win the league."
Nazeing and Matching Green chased the Hall all the way at the top of the table, but were unable to catch them.
Willingale and Abridge will be promoted having finished as the top two in Division One.
In Division Two, Bengeo came top with Lion Hawks close behind while newcomers Matching Green II were the Division Three winners ahead of Harlow Town III.
In the knockout competitions, Farnham bagged the T20 Cup and Lion Hawks claimed the T20 Shield.
"The league management committee are delighted we have managed to complete the season after last year's problems," said league chairman David Brown. "We would once again like to thank Tees for supporting local cricket.
"Any clubs wishing to join the league for the 2022 season should contact our secretary Ben Sammons by emailing email@example.com by September 30."
