New Tees Herts & Essex Border League for cricket clubs within 16-mile radius of Bishop's Stortford to start on May 2, 2020

The new Tees Herts & Essex Border League will get under way with the first round of fixtures on Saturday, May 2.

The competition, for clubs within approximately a 16-mile radius of Bishop's Stortford, has replaced the Herts & Essex League, which folded in November after 26 years.

A formation meeting took place last Monday (February 17), with the constitution and match rules being agreed. The competition will consist of the Premier Division and Divisions One, Two and Three.

A league management committee of 12 people was formed, with David Brown being elected chairman, Ben Sammons named secretary and Patrick Hearne installed as treasurer. Club representatives were also given a demonstration of the league's website.

"This meeting was a culmination of much hard work during the winter months by a working group set up to get the new league up and running for the 2020 season," said Brown, who is Stansted Hall & Elsenham chairman.

"We are all looking forward to the start of the cricket season and this new venture."
