Stuart Barber and Rachel Boynton helped Hertfordshire secure gold at the Kent 4-Way Inter-County Tournament.

The Stortford Archery Club members and their team-mates triumphed in the compound bow class in Sittingbourne, with hosts Kent, Essex and Surrey also taking part.

Fellow Stortford member James Walker received his first county call-up and helped the longbow team come second.

Across the four bow styles – recurve bow and barebow being the others, with four team members competing in each – Herts finished as runners-up overall.

Barber, who is also county chairman, said: "It was an excellent result against strong and very experienced counties. I was very proud of the team, of which four received their first call-ups."

Herts are back in action on Sunday when they entertain Middlesex.
