Hertfordshire beat Middlesex by six points in the annual intercounty indoor tournament.

The team triumphed 9,650-9,644 in a contest described by Herts county chairman Stuart Barber as the closest he has competed in.

Five members of the 20-strong squad were from Stortford Archery Club with Nigel Boardman, Jeremy Godfrey (both recurve) and Robert Jones (longbow) all receiving their first county colours as they competed alongside clubmates Barber (compound) and Sophia Coles (junior recurve).
