Bishop's Stortford lost by 59 runs at home to Harpenden on Saturday and slipped to the foot of the Saracens Hertfordshire League, Premier Division.
Stortford captain Tommy Burslem won the toss and saw his side reduce the visitors from 78 without loss to 126-4 at Cricketfield Lane.
Nick Lamb got out to an excellent catch by Joe Burslem which was quickly followed by an lbw for Ben Twohig. Dom Clutterbuck (2-35) removed ex-Stortford player Chad Barrett before taking another wicket thanks to Callum Sykes' catch.
Sykes went on to claim 3-40 with the ball, but opener James Latham produced a big knock worth 159 as Harpenden posted 273-7 from 60 overs.
The highlight of the Stortford response was an unbeaten 103 from Australian overseas opener Ekky Singh, whose century came off 122 balls and included 10 fours and a six.
He shared partnerships of 48 with Tommy Burslem (24) for the fifth wicket and Matt Pike (21) for the eighth wicket respectively, but Stortford were all out for 214.
In contrast, Bishop's Stortford II moved to the top of Division 4A with a two-wicket win at Hitchin II.
The visitors lost the toss and saw the hosts make 222 all out with an 88-run fourth-wicket stand and a 42-run ninth-wicket partnership.
Will Lambert (3-36), Joe Bunyan (3-56), Liam Mays (2-35) and Sam Robinson (2-39) were the wicket takers.
Jonny Gaffney and Andrew Lewin got Stortford's innings off to a good start before Lewin was bowled for 21.
Ryan Wells joined Gaffney. The latter was dismissed for 62 and Wells was adjudged lbw for 43 soon after.
Richie Heywood (19) and Benjy Furrer (26) batted sensibly and, after a few nervous moments, captain Joe Bunyan (26 not out) saw his side to 223-8 in the 48th over.
An excellent all-round bowling performance helped Bishop's Stortford III triumph by seven wickets at Willingale in the Tees Herts & Essex Border League, Premier Division.
All six bowlers took a wicket with Sam Howlett (3-29), Joe Clune (2-13) and Adrian Wacey (2-25) the main contributors as the hosts were removed for 125.
A 90-run opening stand between Grahame Smith (33) and Jack Fraser-Andrews (51) made the reply relatively easy as Stortford reached 127-3.
• The Herts & Essex Border League's finals night for its knockout competitions will take place at Hockerill CC on Thursday July 21 from 6pm.
Holders Farnham will take on Nazeing Common in the Cup final while Hockerill II and High Roding III will battle it out in the Shield final.
Meanwhile, the Boardmans Davies Cup semi-finals take place next week. Matching Green host Thorley on Tuesday (July 12) while Newport, who knocked out holders Farnham, entertain Takeley the following night.
