Bishop's Stortford Bowling Club reopens its doors to members and is following latest Bowls England and government guidelines
Bishop's Stortford Bowling Club reopened its doors to members on Monday.
The committee voted in favour of getting action back under way on its Beldams Lane rinks, although strict guidelines must be followed at all times.
The Government's current advice states: "You can play lawn bowls where facilities have reopened, but you can only take part in these activities by yourself, or with members of your household or with one person outside of your household, as long as you are able to maintain social distancing."
Bowls England is currently seeking clarification from the Government on whether last week's announcement on the further relaxing of the lockdown will lead to any relaxation in the current guidance for exercise. Bowls England has written to Sport England requesting that dispensation be given to allow pairs play between members of two or more households.
"We have opened our green to our members and we are following all the latest advice from Bowls England," said the club's captain Derek Hinge.
"We have organised a booking system for members (not for the public) with three of our six rinks available for three or four two-hour sessions during the day.
"A supervisor (club member) is on hand to ensure the cleanliness and social distancing rules are followed.
"On Monday the system seemed to work well."
