Bishop’s Stortford Netball Club founder Brenda Pegg recognised for outstanding contribution to the sport in the East region
The woman who founded Bishop’s Stortford Netball Club almost half a century ago has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the sport in the region.
Brenda Pegg and fellow netball stalwart Beryl Davy, of Harlow’s Crosskeys club, were presented with the East Region’s Long Service Award at Bishop’s Stortford & District Netball League’s AGM.
It was a fitting occasion for the presentation as Brenda served on the league’s committee for more than 25 years, and the ceremony was a heartfelt one.
Born-and-bred Stortfordian Brenda founded her hometown club in 1979 and has seen it grow into a vibrant and busy club, providing sporting opportunities for women in the area over the ensuing 45 years.
As honorary president, she is still an integral part of it and continues to give back to a sport that has brought her so much joy over the years.
On a Sunday morning, Brenda can still be found with her umpire’s whistle around her neck and clipboard in hand, as she inspires the next generation of netballers.
